Writer-director Anna Blandford is a Screen International Star of Tomorrow 2018 and was identified by Future Encounters as ‘one of ten international directors to watch’ . 

Anna has an MA in screenwriting and is currently developing her first feature, BEFORE THE STORM. She has been selected for BAFTA CREW X, 2018 and INSPIRE, the 2018 Directors UK mentoring scheme.

Her last short film, ON THE SURFACE was backed by the BFI and Creative England. Shot on super 16 in France and London it stars Tara Fitzgerald and explores guilt and disassociation in a middle-class family.

Anna’s previous films include BFI iShort CRUELTY, longlisted for a BAFTA. UNTITLED and TO THE SEA, which both won awards for experimental filmmaking. The later described by Aesthetica as ‘an intricate film that experiments with its use of narrative…resonating long after the film has finished’.

The sensual, period film, GOBLIN MARKET exhibited at galleries including the Tate Britain, Pushkin and Garage Centre of Contemporary art in Russia alongside its festival run. 

Anna’s early shorts, LOOKING FOR MARILYN was the first straight 8 film to premiere on Channel 4 and screened with Kodak at Cannes. SUPERSONIC won the Critic’s Choice Award in the Telegraph Film Challenge.
